Ozarks

July 9, 2007

Back from Lake of the Ozarks and Kelli had to take off on a business trip.  We haven’t spent the night under the same roof in 2 weeks!  One would think that would lead to serious partying, alas, no such luck.  same ole’ same ole’ around the house.

However, good times were had at the Lake of the Ozarks.  The Fettkether clan was as boisterous as ever.  Plenty of libations and good times were had by all.  I played both real and miniature golf (rocked in on the miniature, not so much on the real links).  Threw plenty of cards.  Ate and ate.  Conversed.  Swam in the lake.  And went for some boat rides.  Honestly though, anything smaller than 35 feet should stay off of that lake past 11am.  But all in all, it was a great time.

Also of note… I bought a sail boat!  A 1991 18′ Hobie Cat SE.  All sorts of fun toys come with it (new sails, beach wheels, harnesses, trailer box, etc.).  Now all I have to do is figure out how to get it from the middle of nowhere back to Tulsa.  Road trip anybody?

I’ll keep you informed and work on getting some pictures taken.  The rain is supposed to break but the heat is supposed to rise, so perhaps that will result in some indoor activity.

Actually, that Four Corners area is bee-yoo-ti-ful (Durango is a pretty popular ski destination from here)… seriously. Any chance you can work this into a mini-vacation?

Afraid not. I will be lucky to get away afternoon on Friday. Which would give me just enough time to run there and back. I hope to get a friend to go with me and make a few scenic stops. If I can get it done in the next 2 weeks mom can watch Kaldun while I make the run. Kaldun does really well in the car, but I’m thinking 3 days would be pushing it.

    Good thought though!
